Inside the World of Veteran Frenchies: Texas' Premier French Bulldog Breeders

A Passion for French Bulldogs

Nestled in the scenic expanse of Canyon Lake, Texas, Veteran Frenchies emerges as a beacon of quality and care in the world of French Bulldog breeding. Roger and Angela Rodkey, the dynamic duo behind this renowned kennel, share their journey into the world of AKC French Bulldogs, both standard and fluffy. Their inspiration? The sheer joy these dogs brought to their family and friends, a sentiment that resonates with every French Bulldog enthusiast.

Health and Happiness: Priorities at Veteran Frenchies

The Rodkeys emphasize the health of their breeding dogs, conducting comprehensive health panels and DNA tests through trusted institutions like Animal Genetics and UC Davis. This commitment to health extends to their puppies, who are socialized and nurtured meticulously. With a professional whelping team and the assistance of their children, the puppies at Veteran Frenchies grow up well-rounded, comfortable, and cuddly.

Dispelling Myths About the Breed

Addressing common misconceptions about the bully breed, the Rodkeys focus on educating potential puppy buyers and the public. They confront the stereotype of breeders driven solely by profit, highlighting their thorough selection process and health testing practices. Their unique veteran puppy give-back program further exemplifies their dedication to positive community impact.

The Hallmarks of a Responsible Breeder

Roger and Angela believe in transparency, honesty, integrity, communication, and a commitment to excellence. These values guide their interactions with clients, ensuring a trusting and fulfilling experience for those who bring a Veteran Frenchie into their home.

Nutrition and Fitness: A Balanced Approach

At Veteran Frenchies, diet and fitness are paramount. Partnering with Red Barn Premium dog foods, the kennel provides their dogs with nutritious meals, including raw meats, veggies, fruits, and xylitol-free peanut butter. Keeping their dogs in shape involves regular walks, playtime on their spacious property, and the active lifestyle of their service dog Frenchies.

The Journey to Owning a Veteran Frenchie

Prospective owners are treated to an immersive experience, from viewing birth photos and videos to receiving regular updates on their chosen puppy. The puppies, closely monitored and cared for by a professional whelper, return to the kennel for socialization, preparing them for their forever homes.

Support Beyond the Sale

Every puppy from Veteran Frenchies comes with a two-year health guarantee. The kennel's policy on returns or rehoming is compassionate and responsible, prioritizing the welfare of each dog.

Breeding Excellence and Community Involvement

Currently training their upcoming sire, Sir Winston Churchill, the Rodkeys are active in the show circuit, particularly in the fluffy categories. Their advice to aspiring breeders emphasizes research, experienced support, and emergency preparedness.

Overcoming Challenges in the Bully World

The key to overcoming negativity in the breeding community, according to the Rodkeys, lies in education, communication, and honesty. Engaging with reputable breeders and participating in local events are crucial steps for aspiring breeders.

Admiration and Aspirations

Veteran Frenchies looks up to Frank Robles of MERAKI Kennels for his expertise and contributions to the French Bulldog community. Their goal for the year is to expand their donation program benefiting veterans and first responders, and to continue growing their presence in the bully world.

Envisioning the Future

Looking forward, the Rodkeys hope for more stringent breeding guidelines to ensure the safety and health of all dogs. Their kennel stands out for its generous discounts to military, veterans, and first responders, a testament to their commitment to giving back.

Beyond Breeding: A Life Full of Joy

The Rodkeys cherish their time outside the kennel, enjoying live music, sporting events, and the tranquility of lake living. Angela's active duty in the Army and their volunteer work further enrich their lives.
